Watching TV in the living room, my roommate stops on this movie. It shows a little kid on the ground after he just fell in the playground. I see Susan Sarandon rush over to make sure this child is alright.
I see Sarandon and Ed Harris bring the boy to the hospital. Then I see Julia Roberts singing to him, soothing any pain he might have.
Can you guess the movie?
If not, it’s Stepmom. And it gets me every time.
This is definitely up there in my top five favorite movies; I could watch it over and over.
I don’t want to give away any details about the plot, but if you haven’t seen it, you need to. It really allows for a lot of reflection on your own life and realizing the little things we take for granted each day. Like a mom.
Every time I watch this movie I text my mom after telling her how much I love her. I make sure my family knows how much I appreciate them. I don’t think of things – like wishing to be a magician – as being too far off. Because life is funny that way. It gives you something amazing and then takes it away. But after it takes it away, something else wonderful comes along, perhaps in the form of a white dove.
So I hope you all get the chance to watch this incredible film. The second we turned it on my eyes started tearing, so have tissues at the ready. But sit through it. And then tell me what you think.
